San Marino. Europe, PSD: “it is useless and harmful to claim autonomy and sovereignty”
“For the PSD, history speaks, a story made up of many difficult moments, but a story in which the visions relating to the crucial issues for San Marino have often been right, indeed pioneering”.
Thus opens a note from the PSD, which continues: “positions on which other parties have taken place after many years, both those who perhaps harbored slight perplexities, and those who fought epic battles to counter them, only to become their champions’ when changing wardrobes’. We are still here, the PSD is still here, the first to talk about San Marino in the European Union, the 2007 letter to Barroso asking to join is proof of this; among the first to understand in 2016 that something was happening in that Central bank, and in fact the split that took place on that vision was consummated by the exit of a large part of the party, which then gave birth to SSD and the Government of now.sm, and the PSD went to the opposition.
The considerations that will be the subject of a forthcoming Council will also consider the achievement of an agreement with Italy in 2005. Even in that circumstance PSD was compact for January 2022 which owes them, The acts instead of the debate of November 16, 2005, in which a single exponent of the PSD of the time (among which the only one who is in the Council is Maria Morganti) argued: “the agreement must be signed. The report on banks produced by the commission of inquiry – which we recall serves to highlight the political responsibilities behind the banking and financial failures – speaks of “the single most harmful political choice of the decade” when the Great and General Council oppose, largely, upon the signing of that agreement. Against a part of the DC, against AP, against United Left, against National Alliance, against the People of San Marino, against the Federative Socialist Group, against the San Marino citizens for Freedom. The Extraordinary Government of the time (PDCS and PSD) had been in agreement with Rome and with the agreement already signed and the Italian Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini already on the plane to come to San Marino, that 16 November 2005, the San Marino politics chose the wrong path. He chose the path that tore up what was a fundamental agreement for our Republic, which would have opened a new era for the country, an era of transparency, of integration and which would have brought us out of that gray area that for years, the commission has well-being, it has brought to the country only one ephemeral. And the history, the documents, the minutes are the meager consolation testifying to the fact that only the PSD at the time understood the importance of this agreement and did everything to bring it home. The only new Foreign Secretary Fabio Berardi, however, the links emerged in the report relating to the Banca CIS crack, and which explain his ‘little enthusiasm’ speech in the debate that should have paved the way for the Rome agreement for San Marino. The effects of the “single most damaging political choice of the decade” are still there for all to see.
Today we are again at a crossroads, this time with the European Union. A crossroads in which politics can no longer afford to make mistakes because – today as then – it is useless and harmful to claim autonomy and sovereignty, when for more than twenty years the main road has spoken of integration, association, cooperation and transparency “.
