Investiture of the governing bodies of the Lions of Portugal
Board re-elected for the 2022-2025 quadrennium
Re-elected on December 17, 2021, the Lions bodies of Portugal took office, this Thursday, reserve a solidarity association for the quadrennium 2022-2025. Maria Helena Dias Ferreira continues as president in this new mandate. In addition to the various members, Frederico Varanda elected, chairman of the Board of Directors of Sporting CP, and Ricardo Mexia, president of the Parish Council of Lumiar, were also present at the ceremony, which took place at the headquarters of the Leões de Portugal, at Estádio José Alvalade.
After the inauguration, President Leonino was elected, congratulating the bodies, before praising this Sportinguista solidarity association founded in 1984 – and the Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS) since 1997.

Enthusiastic to continue at the head of the Sportinguista solidarity association, the president Maria Helena Dias Ferreira spoke to the Club’s media, already facing the new principal. “I hope it will be a happy quadrennium and receive. And association and leave it, for four years, that now they will have greater pleasure, with even better that they will have a larger body in the social, with even better. new people who can stay and pass this desire to do beautiful things”, he began by saying, promising even more intervention and more valences”.
With the appreciation of the community and the solidary mission always in mind, Maria Helena Dias to Ferreira highlighted the “two major projects already in hand for this four-year period: scholarships at the teaching levels – from the sixth year to the PhDs – and social support, above all, through the day center integrated in the stadium.

It’s been 1985 and the number of scholarships since 80 has been delivered, but we want to continue”, highlighted about the scholarship year yet, continuing: . In terms of social support, in addition to the importance of day care, the Lions of Portugal want to add a new valence to the project: home support. “In partnership with the municipality, we have been providing support for two years, we can complement it now and we can add to this experience”, underlined Maria Helena Dias Ferreira, who said it was “very beautiful” to see the evolution of the association. since its foundation.
The Lions is an education association made up of Members whose mission is to designate Sportinguistas with some type of support, fighting a social selection among the elderly and supporting the younger ones.
