FC Schalke 04: career hole after S04 nightmare – ex-star wants to make a new attempt
This transfer, like many other deals, has become for the FC Schalke 04 not worth it. For the horror season 2020/21 the royal blues got Kilian Ludewig from RB Salzburg at the last minute.
The youngster was only loaned out, but one hoped for FC Schalke 04 a lot from the defense attorney. It was a real horror time for the native of Hamburg. After his loan, he went back to Austria, where he now wants to make a new attempt after a career hole.
FC Schalke 04: career hole after S04 nightmare
Ludewig was brought in in the 2020/21 relegation season to close the problem position on the defensive outer position. The wishes of Schalke were not fulfilled. What started out promisingly quickly turned into a personal disaster for Ludewig. If he was one of the starting XI, he fell victim to Schalke’s unsuccessfulness and found himself on the bench after six games. Then finally the metatarsal fracture followed at the end of the year.
He had to take a break for around five months. During this time he had to watch the miners descend without a sound. When he was fit again at the end of the season, Ludewig still didn’t play a game in royal blue. The loan ended after just one year. After his return to RB Salzburg, the next shock followed for Ludwig. Hardly any seasons and most of the time, the 21-year-old found himself on the bench.
Now he’s about to make a fresh start and face a move to the Dutch league. According to consistent reports from Dutch media, Willem II Tillburg will loan the 21-year-old for the remainder of the season.
Ex-Schalke star will make a new attempt
The move would be the only logical one for the youngster. He was on the pitch for Salzburg in all competitions for a meager 107 minutes. If he was allowed to sit on the bench in the Champions League (no use), he was almost never called up in the league in the matchday squad and had to stew in the stands.
More news about FC Schalke 04:
With a loan, Ludewig could regain some self-confidence in the Netherlands and would probably get more playing time there than at RB Salzburg.
Willem II is currently in 14th place in the table in the Eredivisie and is fighting against relegation. What Ludewig would certainly not want to experience again after his horror season at FC Schalke 04. (oa)
