Corona-infected vacationers ignored quarantine and got on planes in Innsbruck
In Innsbruck, seven holidaymakers infected with Corona apparently got on the plane and traveled home – despite a positive test and the corresponding separation notice.
The state of Tyrol confirmed the cases reported by “Heute”. The authorities emphasized that they take it very seriously and that a statement of the facts will be sent to the public prosecutor’s office.
Airport: responsibility at airlines
Innsbruck Airport is not responsible. At Innsbruck Airport, one has not yet heard of any of these cases, said Patrick Dierich, deputy director of the airport. But he cannot rule this out – finally, there is no compulsory test when leaving Austria or taking a flight. It is not up to the airport to decide which rules apply: “How to avoid something like this is the decision of the airlines,” said Dierich. The airport would of course control corona tests – if these were prescribed.
States of origin warned
Tyrol informed the Ministry of Health. “The seven cases became known in the context of health surveys,” it said. The health authorities of the countries of origin have been informed, it was assured. Reference was made to the legally prescribed and also ordered quarters of infected vacationers. Compliance with the quarantine will also be checked, it said. According to “Today” the problem was raised at a video conference of the crisis team on Wednesday.
