The Toulouse-Mermoz vaccinodrome will achieve 81,000 injections per day in Haute-Garonne
Toulouse’s new vaccinodrome opens its doors this Thursday. It is the 16th vaccination center in Haute-Garonne.
Intended for those under 30, the center located in the Mermoz room on the Ile du Ramier, will be open 7 days a week from 9:30 am to 8 pm. You will enter it through Hall 8, of which it is a sort of extension. The town hall is in charge of the system in conjunction with the health authorities. “With the Mermoz room and its 2,000 more injections, we will now be able to reach 81,000 injections per week in Haute-Garonne in addition to the vaccination for doctors and pharmacies” explained Etienne Guyot the prefect of Haute-Garonne who presented this new equipment on Wednesday. He appealed to “collective discipline” and to register, “get vaccinated there are places”.
6,000 first injections last week and another 200,000 unvaccinated people in Haute-Garonne
The representative of the State also welcomed a rise in the importance of first-time injections. “there were 6000 last week” : Should the anti-vax finally be convinced in Toulouse? Obviously yes. “The virus is currently stalking the unvaccinated and the share of the unvaccinated in intensive care is very clear.” added the mayor of Toulouse.
Currently according to the ARS, a little less than 200,000 people have not received any dose of vaccine in Haute-Garonne.
Toulouse will have a capacity of 7,000 injections / day
For Jean-Luc Moudenc, the fact that the choice fell on the Mermoz room near Hall 8 is explained: “this makes it possible to pool resources and not to duplicate the reception system” and “Mermoz: many Toulouse people know”. “We are on the side of the State” recalled the ability “7000 injections per day” only in Toulouse between Barcelona, Daurade and Ramier. The town hall is “organizer” and legal manager “we sign the contracts”.
6 vaccination lines will be available in Mermoz from this Thursday (1200 injections / day) and 4 additional from Saturday (2000 injections / day).
A pediatric vaccination line in the coming weeks in Mermoz
And this Mermoz Room will also be used for the vaccination of children, explained Thierry Cardouat, Departmental Director of the ARS. But isn’t the vaccination of children slow to take hold, as schools are overwhelmed by Covid cases? “We do not vaccinate in pediatrics like adults“auto “you need a doctor who takes the time to explain to children and parents”.
“There will probably be a pediatric offer on Mermoz” he explained then that “on an already vaccinated more than 1,500 children“in Haute-Garonne and “if that doesn’t seem like much, it’s because there is a whole lot of educational work to be done”.
