Shipping company Maersk reports delays between two and four days at Antwerp terminals (Antwerp)
Mooring in the port of Antwerp through congestion problems. Transport magazine Flows writes this on Wednesday based on a message from the Danish shipping company Maersk.
The congestion problems that disrupted the entire chain in 2021 will continue before the start of 2022. Maersk said in a message to its customers. “The pandemic is strong and new outbreaks are making it difficult to transport cargo,” it said.
Wait up to 45 days
At the Antwerp MPET and North Sea terminals, Maersk is taking into account a settlement of two to four days. That is worse than in Bremerhaven (two to three days), Hamburg (two to three days) and Rotterdam (one to two days), but better than in Felixstowe in England (seven to ten days).
Moreover, the situation is moving in the right direction, says Maersk. “The port of Antwerp had up to ten days last week, this week the delays could drop to two days.”
In other parts of the world, the situation is even more critical. For example, in Long Beach, California, deen can take up to 45 days. In the port of Ningbo in China, there are fears of the consequences of a corona outbreak in part of the city.
