More and more fir trees collected in the municipalities of Dijon metropolis
The collection of fir trees in the municipalities of Dijon metropolis is finished. This year again, it was possible to put your Christmas tree on the sidewalk, on the days indicated. Indeed, this year, ninety-two tons of fir trees were validated, against eighty and a half tons last year. “This is a significant increase, we have never had such a significant increase in recent years”, according to Jean-Patrick Masson, vice-president of Dijon metropolis in charge of the environment.
It is also necessary to add the trees deposited in the five recycling centers of the metropolis, as well as those in collection points. In any case, having the reflex to give a second life to his tree seems to become a habit among the inhabitants of the metropolis according to Jean-Patrick Masson: “people care about being responsible eco-citizens.”
Once all the trees have been collected, they will be crushed and then spread at the foot of the trees in public spaces in Dijon metropolis. On the one hand, they protect the soil but also prevent weeding. “We have a virtuous loop. Ten years ago, these trees ended up being incinerated, today we have soil protection and an improvement in it”, explains Jean-Patrick Masson.
