s192 the countries that are present in this edition of the Expo, the first to be held in the Middle East region, and which places sustainability and the environment at the focus of the exhibition, dedicating a space exclusively to this theme.
In the ‘sustainability district’, some technologies that countries are already applying are put into ‘action’, combining environmental protection with the economy.
In this context, it is possible to visit an area called ‘Terra’, where one is recreated, with plants such as palm trees, forests or African fig trees, as well as some representations and children of animals.
At the entrance, a scheme that presents an evolution of agriculture, population, energy use and even carbon dioxide (CO2), since 1700 and 2000, followed by a space completely covered by solar panels.
Saving water, plastics and protecting the oceans, using audiovisual experiences, are also present in this exhibition. Added to this is the entire central square of ExpoDubai, where there are several species of plants and trees, which represent shaded spaces.
For visitors, this bet is some and a central theme of strengthening the measures to protect the apostate in sustainability, but also of the environmental safety measures adopted protection measures are adopted.
David Ptlchal, from the Czech Republic, described the event as “incredible”, in statements to the Lusa agency, expecting the vast majority of pavilions during the seven days that will be spent in the country.
With regard to sustainability, Ptlchal says it is a “concern”, but criticizes the “exaggerated vision of the European Union” and asks that it be “managed step by step”.
In the opposite direction, Rashi Gupta, resident in Dubai, stressed that this issue is very sensitive and appealed to “what counts all countries in the world had in sustainability in decision-making”.
In the middle of the morning it also reached some Portuguese visitors, such as José Prata.
Sustainability is a concern, but this is the question of rich people who do not sign the agreements [que preveem medidas, por exemplo, para combater as alterações climáticas]”, he stressed, noting that Portugal is not an example in this area either, since it often overlaps the economy with ecology.
Thus, he highlighted that each citizen can take measures with a view to these objectives, some such as recycling or using less water.
Manuel Pacheco, recently arrived from Lagos, district of Faro, noted, in turn, that these themes “should be a concern for everyone”.
At the Portugal Pavilion, sustainability was not forgotten, as Luís Castro Henriques, the country’s commissioner-general at the Expo, assured Lusa.
“It’s a thematic issue that is everywhere, through the materials we use. in the country’s sustainability, namely the world is at the level of the electricity sector, and this is passing to the products we sell abroad”, he said.
In the exhibition area of the Portugal Pavilion there is also a pillar, exclusively dedicated to this theme, which, according to the organization, is one of the most commented.
Luís Castro Henriques, those who often knew that Portugal had not made these attempts, as well as the resulting results.
“Today we are a country where the production of renewable energy in electricity has a [expressão] much higher than in most countries in the world”, he concluded.
