Tips for a weekend in Prague: take part in the Tolkieniad, the Three Kings Watch Okoř or the Bird March

Sugar Mizzy January 7, 2022

Tolkieniáda

On January 3, 130 years have passed since the birth of the English writer JRR Tolkien. And you can discover a part of its Middle-earth in Jarov. KC Vozovna has prepared an outdoor one encryption game for children from 7 years. Tolkien loved trees, which is reflected in his work. In The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit we find, for example, the two Valinor trees Laurelin and Telperion, the White Tree of Gondor or the Celebration Tree. You can follow in the footsteps of seven such trees from Tolkien’s stories at any time between 1 pm and 4 pm, when the last start is. You will find deciphering ciphers hidden in runes, literary examples from his work and a small reward in the goal. Dress well, the whole game takes place outside.

March Three Kings Okoř

Saturday is the 54th year of the New Year’s march Tříkrálová Okoř. It starts between 7:30 and 9:00 at the primary school, V Nové Vokovice Street, Vokovice – Veleslavín, Prague 6. You can choose from three different routes – 28 km, 13 km and 16 km. The goal is common for all, to get through Okoř to the Central Bohemian Museum in Roztoky near Prague. A program is ready along the way and what about it? Pencil, paper, KČT map No. 36 (Prague surroundings – west), or KČT map No. 9 (Podřipsko), something to eat, good clothes, comfortable shoes and the right excursion mood.

Anyone can get involved, no previous experience is needed, just prepare a feeder and watch it for an hour. It doesn’t matter if it is in your garden, in the park or on the balcony. More detailed information on the website Bird watch.

Prague Zoo – welcoming wombats and guided feeds

  • Saturday, January 8, commented feeding weekends and holidays until the end of March, Prague 7 – Troja

You can visit Darwin Crater on Saturday from 12 noon to participate welcome wombata Cooper. Although he arrived in December, he had to go through compulsory isolation. Baker and confectioner Josef Maršálek will also welcome the first Czech wombat together with Marek Eben. In addition to Cooper himself, two confectionery cubes will be introduced, his droppings have such an unusual shape.

In the winter, on weekends and holidays, the Zoo organizes regular guided feeds and meetings with animals. You can catch up with the holidays when you learn a lot of interesting things from their lives. Penguins always receive their rations at 11:00, there is a meeting with forest dogs at 12:00, and in good weather you can move to the elephants at 13:30. Look at the whole schedule.
