Prague is preparing to amend the decree on the free movement of dogs. It will also deal with the comments of residents – ČT24 – Czech Television
Many Praguers respect the rules for the free movement of dogs, but do not always agree with them. For example, Nikol Mrázková walks her dog twice a day to Prague parks. In some places, walking dogs is prohibited, but according to her, it would not be such a problem in winter. “It’s not used by anyone who goes there on a blanket. And it occurs to me that in the winter it could be intended for dogs, “he says.
Winning places where the dog may be out of the leash are now marked with pictograms. But the new ones are to be listed directly in the decree. “Free movement of dogs has been banned in Prague for several years. That is what the decree carries with it, which is why there are exceptions where the free movement of dogs is allowed. We have to respect not only dog owners, but also the people who are there with prams, “said Vít Hofman, a spokesman for the Prague City Hall.
Parents of young children, for example, have a different view than dog owners. “I had experience, and it was not a dog, but a dog breeder. Some pit bull was sniffing my five-year-old son, so I told the owner to tie the dog. He roughly replied that I had nothing to worry about, “Jakub Luskač, who visits the parks with his children, described his experience.
The number of offenses among dog breeders has increased
The fact that the dog breeders are breaking the rules is also confirmed by the city. “Last year, we dealt with more than 2,700 offenses, which is two more than in 2020. The police imposed 280 fines totaling 42,000 crowns,” said Irena Seifertová, a spokeswoman for the Prague City Police.
The public was also able to comment on the form of the amended decree, from 7 December to 7 January. A total of 120-forty comments from the city districts and eighty from the people came. All proposals will now be dealt with by the city meeting, and the deputies could then discuss the new decree in January.
