Coronavirus in Prague: 8282 cases occurred in a week
The epidemic in Prague is intensifying – in the past seven days, 8282 cases of coronavirus infection in the city were detected, almost 3,200 more than in the previous week. The incidence number is also higher, ie the number of newly confirmed cases in the last seven days per 100,000 inhabitants. It has risen from 384 to 620 in the last week, according to data from the Ministry of Health’s website.
New cases of covid in Prague were added in a weekly comparison for the first time since the beginning of December. The spread of the disease in the capital is accelerating, as in the whole of the Czech Republic. Experts expected growth after the holidays. According to the State Institute of Public Health (SZÚ), 35 percent of new cases on Wednesday accounted for the more contagious omicron variant. The Minister of Health Vlastimil Válek (TOP 09) said that this variant will prevail in the Czech Republic in the second half of next week. The number of infected people should continue to increase.
Prague now has the highest incidence number compared to other regions. involved Liberec region with 426 newly infected in the last seven days per 100,000 inhabitants. On the contrary, the Karlovy Vary region has a relatively best position in the long run, with an incidence of 230.
