Two new cases: Corona increases the personnel worries at Eintracht Frankfurt | hessenschau.de
After positive corona tests, Eintracht Frankfurt has to do without Jesper Lindström and Danny da Costa for the time being. For coach Oliver Glasner, the personnel situation before the home game against Borussia Dortmund is becoming increasingly tricky.
Now Eintracht Frankfurt has also caught it: Shortly before the Bundesliga top game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday (6.30 p.m.), Jesper Lindström and Danny da Costa tested positive for the corona virus and sent them to quarantine at home. The duo is therefore out for the time being and WILL definitely miss the duel with BVB. “It’s tricky in terms of personnel,” said coach Oliver Glasner at the press conference on Thursday.
Chance for Lammers?
The Austrian, who presented himself to the public for the first time since his fateful e-scooter fall, including a broken cheekbone, and presented a stately veil, has to reschedule at short notice and, above all, to replace Lindström, who was so strong recently. He named Goncalo Paciencia, Sam Lammers or Ragnar Ache, who had recovered from his corona infection, as possible options. It is also possible to adapt the system to two real strikers.
Meanwhile, Jens Petter Hauge is no alternative. The Norwegian, who would be the most obvious substitute for Lindström in terms of football, is still struggling with muscular problems and is not available against BVB. The party also comes too early for Christopher Lenz, who was also absent in December due to a muscle injury. “The two are definitely not there,” said Glasner.
Jakic probably only on the bench
There is also a question mark behind Kristijan Jakic’s commitment. After surviving the corona infection, the Croat is also back in training and will be part of the squad. Since the midfield engine was only able to train with the team again on Thursday, a starting line-up is probably out of the question, according to coach Glasner. “He could only train individually until Wednesday. I don’t know if it would be wise to let him play from the start.”
Either way: The increasing numbers of corona infections do not stop at Eintracht and make the life of coach Glasner much more difficult. Annoying, but unavoidable, as the 47-year-old emphasized: “We also live in this society, our players are not lepers,” Glasner reacted calmly to the Corona failures. “If the numbers go up, it can be expected that something will happen to us too.”
Incidentally, there are also corona cases with the opponent: BVB has to do without the positively tested Dan-Axel Zagadou and Marius Wolf.
