Toulouse and Metropolis. On the 2022 roadmap, two footbridges for Île du Ramier
In his wishes to the press this Thursday, January 6, Jean-Luc Moudenc, mayor of Toulouse, recalled the priority to the “daily life” of the inhabitants to reconcile the advantages of the city and the village spirit.
Is it good to live in the city in general and in Toulouse in particular? Faced with a certain disenchantment with large cities linked to the Covid crisis, Jean-Luc Moudenc, this Thursday, for his wishes to the press, made a plea in favor of the city, “place of all opportunities” and not “all the problems” although it knows “difficulties” starting with “traffic, pollution and insecurity”.
When the school year began in September, a year after his election, the mayor of France’s fourth largest city had given the political orientation of the mandate with the priority given to the “daily life” of the inhabitants in three areas: security, proximity to neighborhood scale and soft mobility. This Thursday, Jean-Luc Moudenc took up this slogan, the key, according to him, to “reconcile the opportunities of the city and import a little of the village spirit”.
Declined for the year 2022, this gives 64 achievements that the mayor did not all mention, only mentioning the arrival of new municipal police officers and cameras, of “proximity services in the hearts of the neighborhood”, and slipping the examples of cycle paths at the Château de l’Hers or in Purpan.
3rd line, construction site of the century
It is on the side of the Metropolis and the mayor, surrounded by a dozen elected officials during these videoconference greetings, turned to discuss the major projects, almost all concerned with the environmental theme. The Low Emission Zone (ZFE) should see the light of day when the government gives the green light. Jean-Luc Moudenc recalled that the Metropolis has asked the State, the Region and the Department for aid to change vehicles to be more important. 2022 will see the start of work on the 3rd line, the site of the century, with a view to opening at the end of 2028. The Téléo cable car, after several delays, should be operational “in the second quarter”.
The elected officials will embark on the development of a new urban plan, after the cancellation by the administrative court. A plan which must take into account the new objective of zero net artificialization of soils. The future green lung of Toulouse, Ile du Ramier, will see the launch of the construction of two footbridges, one side Empalot, the other avenue de Muret. Finally, in the employment chapter, since this week, a platform for job offers was opened by the Metropolis (emploi.toulouse-metropole.fr) yesterday held 5,800 proposals.
