Sweden’s Renewcell uses Circulose in the production of viscose filament yarns
While viscose staple fibers made with Circulose have been commercially available since 2019, filament development opens up additional product segments for 100 percent Circulose fibers in active wear, as a replacement for polyester filaments and in luxury as a replacement for silk.
Yibin, a CanopyStyle “Green Shirt” -ranked manufacturer of viscose staple fibers and viscose filament yarns based in China, has verified Circulose pulp for use in a 100% concentration in industrial production of viscose filament yarns. The quality of the yarn produced by 100 percent Circulose by Yibin in December 2021 exceeds “Superior Grade” according to Chinese national standards for GB / T 13758-2008. This marks the first known industrial production of new quality viscose filament yarns made from 100 percent recycled textiles, Renewcell says in a press release.
In collaboration with the leading Chinese manufacturer of viscose filament yarn Yibin Hiest Fiber Limited Corporation, Renewcell has successfully used 100 percent Circulose solution mass in industrial scale viscose filament yarn production. This new commercial partnership with Yibin has been facilitated by Renewcell’s exclusive trading partner Ekman Group.
“Our partnership with Renewcell and Ekman is an exciting and huge step,” he said Deng Min, CEO of Yibin Grace Group Co. Ltd. and Yibin Hiest Fiber Limited Corporation. “Circular filament yarn made from 100 percent recycled textile waste is a significant addition to our Made in Green product portfolio. There is a clearly growing awareness of more sustainable materials in the textile industry. I am convinced that by combining our expertise and knowledge we will reduce the carbon footprint and accelerate progress towards our ambitious goal of turning fashion into a closed loop. ”
The development follows the successful lab-scale production of 100 percent Circulose filament yarn in collaboration with the German research institute Fraunhofer 2020.
“I am pleased to expand the commercial Circulose portfolio to include filament yarns. I am also impressed by Yibin’s innovation capacity and look forward to deepening our collaboration and starting to supply Circulose filament yarns to brand partners in 2022. In Renewcell’s endeavor to make fashion circular, we will to continue working with leading partners to prove the usefulness of Circulose in various textile applications “, said Patrik Lundström, CEO of Renewcell.
