A shortened quarantine obligation, the validity of the green passport WILL be shortened to six months, the 2-G rule in trade will also be extended to the rest of Austria and the FFP2 mask obligation is gold-plated outdoors: the Omikron crisis summit brought new measures on Epiphany.
At the meeting of the federal government with representatives of the federal states and experts from the coronavirus crisis coordination, GECKO decided that in future there should be an outdoor FFP2 requirement if the two-meter distance cannot be maintained. The quarantine period will be shortened to five days from January 8th, after which a free test is possible.
The highlight is expected in Salzburg on January 20th
With these measures, it should be possible to maintain the infrastructure, because the number of new coronavirus infections will inevitably continue to rise, says Salzburg Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP). “Our statisticians have calculated that the maximum number of infections will be reached on January 20th and the curve will then go down again. For the hospitals, however, this means that the burden lags a little and here the big task will be that we can maintain and expand our capacities. “
Handel: Salzburg model is extended to Austria
Haslauer does not want to rule out a fifth lockdown, but he definitely wants to prevent it. Based on the Salzburg model, stronger 2-G controls in retail throughout Austria will also help from next week.
