Sales in Monaco: should we continue on this pattern? The question is valid
Alexandre Pasta has been at the head of the Union of Merchants and Craftsmen of Monaco for a few months, which brings together 140 members at around 700 points of sale for craftsmen and traders in the Principality.
After having spent the end of the year celebrations where the residents of Monaco hope to have consumed in priority at the local level, in particular thanks to the application Carlo, there is that the sales announced the same craze.
“But it’s still complicated, recognizes Alexandre Pasta. The commuters are teleworking and will not come to consume in the shops of the Principality. All the conditions are not met. “
“Today
the customer no longer necessarily waits for this period “
Postpone the sales? For him, this is not a solution, this period allowing traders to empty their shelves before the arrival of the new collection.
“Pour that much, adds the president of Ucam, we absolutely must do everything to prevent the soaring Covid from closing our businesses. That would be a catastrophe. “
As such, he invites all traders in Monaco to play the game of self-tests. “The government has made 50,000 tests available to companies free of charge. Each merchant must take the step of registering on the site of the princely government to collect them. “
Finally, like others, the representative of the Principality’s traders wondered about the usefulness of these six weeks of sales. “The promotional periods develop throughout the year, today the customer no longer waits for this period to do business. So should we continue with this scheme? I recognize that the question arises. We have to start the debate. “
the carlo app
as a booster
Since its launch, the success of the Carlo app has been constant. Today 380 out of the 900 businesses in the Principality (according to IMSEE figures) accept payment via this application which was developed at the local level. As for the users, they are more than 27,000 residents but also employees and inhabitants of neighboring municipalities.
As a reminder, the principle is simple: for 100 euros spent in a partner business, you are credited with 5 euros on your card that you spend, you do not cash them, in other businesses in the Carlo network. An application which therefore boosts local commerce. All the more so as companies in the Principality, this year there are more than 20, are rewarding their employees, especially at Christmas time, with Carlo vouchers.
As a result, since its launch two years ago, 19,800,000 euros have been spent at local traders.
