Concerts, shows, guided tours, exhibitions, cinema events and other initiatives not to be missed for the weekend that marks the end of the Christmas holidays, unfortunately orphan of the traditional epiphany bonfires that Covid once again took away. In Verona, despite some uncertainty and a program still to be defined, the 492nd Veronese Carnival will officially start from 6 January.
Let’s now see below the main events scheduled during the epiphany weekend in the city of Verona and its province.
Inauguration of the 492nd Veronese Carnival
On January 6, as usual, the statue of the Papa del Gnoco will be placed in the square in San Zeno, but there will not be the usual parade up to Palazzo Barbieri. The highlight of the Veronese Carnival is then scheduled for February 25, the “Friday Gnocolar”, which will be followed by the events in the districts, the Philippine Saturday and the Luni Pignatar.
At the Philharmonic Theater “Entertainment, Trios and Quartets”
Fondazione Arena continues its collaboration with the Municipality of Verona, the Cariverona Foundation and the Accademia Filarmonica to pay homage to Mozart in synergy for the city for the third consecutive year. Scheduled for Sunday 9 January at the Philharmonic Theater “Divertimenti, Trios e Quartetti” for strings and winds. A monographic afternoon entirely dedicated to chamber Mozart, music of rare execution and very refined workmanship, with some professors from the Arena Foundation Orchestra.
Divine Harmony for Mozart
Cariverona Foundation organizes for Friday 7 January at 20.30 at the Church of S. Tomaso Cantuariense the traditional and musical appointment to celebrate the historic Mozart performance of 7 January 1770. The protagonist this year will be La Divina Armonia, an Italian ensemble, is in the Baroque repertoire and of the eighteenth century which has international collaborations and recordings to its credit.
La Banda Del Sur Live
The Banda Del Sur was born in 2000 in Berlin in the legendary club “El Sur”, where South American, Spanish and Italian musicians play and meet, giving life to a memorable jam session and great musical collaborations. Luca Artioli, guitarist and singer of the Berlin music scene, as well as leader of the Band, creates in this context his personal musical cross-over that ranges from the Rumba Flamenca to the engaging rhythms of Cuba and Latin America up to the new Brazilian-Bahian trends of the north east of Brazil. Appointment Friday 7 January 2022 at 10 pm at the Cantine de l’Arena.
The Dutch Jazz Connection in concert
“The Dutch Jazz Connection” is an initiative created by saxophonist Barend Middelhoff to create a fruitful and continuous network between the leading Dutch and Italian jazz musicians. The backbone of the project, in fact, consists in offering the possibility of carrying out concert activities and masterclasses, considered relevant opportunities for exchanging musical knowledge and experiences. In addition to the existing international jazz repertoire, the emphasis is on various Dutch and Italian composers. Appointment on Sunday 9 January 2022 at 7 pm at the Cantine de l’Arena.
THEATER AND CINEMA
Fly dove … in the blue painted blue
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 January 2022, the Gino Franzi Company on stage at the Camploy Theater with the show “Vola colomba … nel blu painted di blu”. Against the backdrop of the 1950s, after the war, in perfect balance between film and musical comedy, Gino Franzi stages a sort of magical box that takes the audience back in time to songs, carousels, characters and events of the time.
The new film by Asghar Farhadi is also out in Verona A hero: Rahim is in prison due to a debt he has failed to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to persuade his creditor to withdraw the complaint in exchange for part of the sum. However, things do not go as planned.
Verona in yellow
A long yellow line, often in red, crosses the history of Verona, whose meanders return a story made up of heinous and unsolved crimes: a guided path to be faced in “cold blood” that starts from some historical truths such as duels to the last blood of gladiatorial battles, but then aims to unearth some forgotten tragic events, which have studded the history of Verona. Michele Sanmicheli, guided tour of the city
Sunday 9 January at 2.30 pm the guided tour “Michele Sanmicheli, Renaissance art in Verona” will be held. A walk among the elegant palaces of Sanmicheli and a visit to the chapel of the church of San Bernardino, an example of Veronese Mannerism.

Free guided tours and workshops at the civic museums of Verona
At the civic museums of Verona a rich calendar of events for the Christmas holidays. From 19 December 2021 to 9 January 2022, free guided tours and educational workshops for young and old are offered. All activities are free with reservations required, you only pay for the entrance to the museum.
The animals of Christmas at the Natural History Museum
The animals of Christmas. Winter life in our mountains. This is the theme chosen for the new temporary exhibition set up at the Natural History Museum, visible until January 30th. A real voyage of discovery of the particularities and characteristics of the animals that populate our mountains, with the support of mountains that, for example, explain the phenomenon of hibernation and the species that use it to survive the winter cold.
The World Cup in Italy ’90 and the discovery of the Roman necropolis
The construction site for the 1990 World Cup brought to light extraordinary archaeological finds. It was one of the most important excavation and recovery campaigns of Verona’s most important materials, and today it is on display. From 18 December 2021 until 9 January 2022 the exhibition “The World Championships of Italy ’90 and the discovery of the Roman necropolis” will be visible at Porta Palio, promoted by the Department of Tourism and Unesco Reports and by the Superintendence of archeology, fine arts and landscape.
The watercolors of Francesco Arduini in Castelvecchio
New display in the Boggian room of the Castelvecchio Museum. On display are the 60 watercolors donated this year by Francesco Arduini for the Drawings and Prints Department of the Scaligero Museum. A special exhibition, on view to the public until 6 March 2022, created on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the birth of Licisco Magagnato.
Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum: “The sacred in art”
The exhibition “The Sacred in Art. A selection of works from the Cattelani Collection” is visible until 7 January 2022 at the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum. The exhibition, promoted by Omnia Events and more, Ezechiel association, Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum Foundation in collaboration with Tiberio Cattelani, allows you to admire reference works from the Cattelani Collection, which offers works by artists who have left an indelible trace in the art panorama Contemporary.
Gardaland Magic Winter
Until January 9, 2022, an unmissable appointment with the “Gardaland Magic Winter”, the winter event during which splendid decorations and engaging shows transform the park and allow guests to experience the magical Christmas atmosphere without sacrificing fun and adrenaline of attractions. A rink of pacts on ice could not be missing, instead of snow-covered ones, from such an Arabian montaggio, suggestions that can only be experienced in an amusement park.
Soave – The Land of Nativity Scenes
“Soave – The Country of Nativity Scenes” is back, the traditional festival which, during the holiday period until January 16, 2022, transforms the medieval village of Soave into an open-air exhibition, with the many artistic nativity scenes that will embellish the most beautiful in the historic center.

For the first year in Negrar di Valpolicella, to better celebrate the Christmas holidays, “Valpolicella On Ice” is born which takes place from 4 December to 9 January 2022 in Piazza San Martino.

Christmas among the Olives in Garda: traditions and flavors
In the Municipality of Garda there is the Christmas event among the olives, with the unmissable Christmas markets on Lungolago Regina Adelaide, typical of the month preceding the Holidays: here you can shop for yourself and family, for friends and find lots of curiosities to put under the tree. In order not to be left with an empty stomach during Christmas shopping, the Pavilion of Flavors on Lungolago Regina Adelaide is also back.
Christmas in Malcesine
“Malcesine at Christmas” for adults and children: until 9 January in the Garda municipality the Christmas period with the Elves, the mascots Prezzemolo from Gardaland, Baldo and Prada Bella from the Malcesine – Monte Baldo cableway and Tunk from the Natura Viva park. The historic center with its medieval charm and Lake Garda in the background: is the evocative portrait of Christmas in Malcesine. In a magical Christmas atmosphere made of scents, lights, colors, live music, you will discover handicrafts, local food and wine and you will have the opportunity to delight your palate with delicious greedy encounters.
Christmas in Peschiera del Garda
Until 9 2022 in Peschi del Garda it is possible to visit the January Christmas village with ice skating rink and train for the little ones, in Piazza Ferdinando di Savoia. Also in Peschiera, you can also admire the now very famous “Underwater Nativity of the Lake”.
Christmas in Bardolino
Until 9 January 2022 the lakefront and the historic center of Bardolino welcome thousands of visitors to let them experience the magical Christmas atmosphere. For the first time, Bardolino’s Christmas will extend to the Carrara Bottagisio Park, which will be dedicated to children and families. The Carrara Bottagisio Park will host the covered ice skating rink and the Ferris wheel, while the traditional horse merry-go-round and the interactive Santa’s sleigh will cheer Piazza del Porto. On the lakeside, in the splendid Bardolino basin, the programs of selected farms offer their high quality products with traditional food and wine markets and local crafts.
Christmas in Lazise and the huge skating rink
Lazise for the Christmas period, until 9 January 2022, is dressed in lights and colors: the play of lights on the main monuments, the large trees, the colorful parks. The Mercatio with its characteristic white houses in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and on the Marconi lakefront, via Albarello with the creatives of the AMA association, in Corte San Marco they can see the creations of some towns of Lazise. Space also for sport with the largest skating rink on Lake Garda installed in the Pra ‘del Principe Park.
