Ukraine is among the leaders in Europe in resuming air traffic. Where do Ukrainians fly?
Ukraine is among the five European countries with the fastest resumption of air traffic. According to statistics, in 2021 Ukraine increased 134 thousand flights. Ukrainian radio talked with aviation expert Bohdan Dolince and learned where Ukrainians often fly.
Restoration of air traffic
According to Bohdan Dolince, the words air traffic are just one of the indicators that characterize the air transportation industry. The increase in air traffic means that there are more planes flying in Ukraine and transiting through Ukraine.
“This role has limited the restrictions imposed on Ukrainian Europe in Belarus, which now pass through traffic, which previously passed through the services of air service providers, and thus more statistics on each traffic and aircraft in the air,” says Dolince.
In addition, according to the expert, last year Ukraine reduced rates for the use of some traffic over the Black Sea. This has increased the attractiveness of the Ukrainian sky for air carriers flying in transit. According to Dolintse, Ukraine is currently actively developing domestic air transportation, and this is an additional incentive for the speed of air traffic recovery.

How many Ukrainians fly
According to quarterly data on air transportation, Ukraine has not yet reached the level of 2019 in transportation.
“At the same time, the dynamics of the resumption of passenger traffic in terms of several passengers transported by Ukrainian airlines and in terms of service passengers at Ukrainian airports is high,” said the expert.
Bohdan Dolince points out that the drop in air traffic in 2020 was not as significant in Ukraine as in European countries. At the same time, the resumption of air traffic is largely in the organization of charter flights.
“Most Ukrainian airlines that have used traditional scheduled air services, today most of the judges perform for charter flights and for them this is the main activity,” says Bohdan Dolince.
Where do Ukrainians fly?
According to him, the main directions of expert flights are changing. This depends on the restrictions that countries impose on quarantine: the reason for the availability of SOVID certificates or PCR tests. Ukrainian brothers fly to Germany, Turkey, Austria, Britain.
“This may be due to the large air hubs in these countries and passengers continue to travel, but there is no way to track them later,” says Dolince.
That is, charter flights, experts, often Ukrainians use them for flights to Turkey and Egypt.
Open skies agreement
According to Dolintse, the full-fledged open skies agreement has not yet entered into force. To begin with, it is necessary for Ukraine and the European Union to exchange notes stating that they declare their readiness to enter into force. Only then will the phased implementation begin.
“When the first provisions of this document come into force, we will see that air routes will be opened, these are some new cities in France and Germany. airlines, ”says Dolince.
Agreement on Flight Committee documents regulating hundreds of different aviation sectors of the European Union, including the protection of rights and safety and certification of carriers. There are new carriers on the Ukrainian market that need to improve the quality of transportation and reduce their cost due to competition.
How passengers choose a carrier
According to the expert, customers look at the ticket price and the number of transfers during departure. Also the factors of prices are the direction and convenient time of departure. In addition to this factor, there is previous experience of flights of customers of a particular airline.
About creation of the national air carrier
Bohdan Dolince says that today the decade in the airline business is the lowest in the last few years.
“A large number of aircraft is available at affordable prices, can be found without significant costs and a full company of qualified personnel without the need for long-term training of pilots, flight attendants and managers,” – says the expert.
These factors reduce the cost and speed up the process of launching a new airline. In addition, says Dolince, the first airlines were state-owned carriers. The expert says that in the world of aviation only 30-40% of carriers are private. At the same time, due to decision-making and complicated procurement procedures, state-owned airlines are not always effective for individuals.
