The exhibition in front of the Czech Photo Center in Prague will show the work of young photographers
It was prepared by the Czech Photo company, which organizes the well-known domestic photojournalism competition Czech Press Photo. The exhibition will show pictures of the last six Canon Junior Award winners. Its last winner so far is the photojournalist of the Czech Press Office Ondřej Deml. The opening will take place on January 11 at 11:00 in front of the gallery and the exhibition will be open to the public until May, Anna Vacková from Czech Photo told ČTK today.
In addition to Deml, David Kruliš, Jiří Královec, Oliver Beneš, Sebastian Vošvrda and Monika Řeháková will show their work on 20 panels. Each of the authors focuses on a different photographic genre. The first winner of the 2016 award, David Kruliš, has been involved in photography since he was a child, although photography is not his primary job. His passion is car photography, which he dedicated and founded the new brand PDM vision.
Jiří Královec, who won the title a year later, focuses mainly on portraits, documentaries and commercial photography. He won two Czech Press Photo awards in 2017. The panels will feature a sports series created in collaboration with Red Bull and, for example, on the Guardian’s website.
Oliver Beneš won the Canon Junior Award in 2018 with photographs of a lunar eclipse in Austria. He started experimenting with night photography at the age of 14. He is currently photographing a series from Průhonice Park, which will be on display at the spring exhibition. Sebastian Vošvrda began to study photography during his high school studies at VOŠG Hellichova in Prague. At that time, he began to get acquainted with reportage photographs and later took photographs for the Mladá Boleslav daily and occasionally for the music magazine Fullmoon.
Monika Řeháková studied applied photography and media at the Secondary School of Applied Arts. After that, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Audiovisual Production and Theater at JAMU in Brno, where he continues his master’s studies together with Advertising Photography at Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
This year’s winner of the award is the youngest photographer of the ČTK agency, Ondřej Deml. He has been photographing since 2005, and for the last seven years he has been focusing mainly on reportage photography. He won the Canon Junior Award for a series of Olympic emotions at last year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
