Salzburg is looking for quarantine quarters for tourists – coronavirus
The corona numbers are exploding in the Tyrolean and Salzburg ski resorts. Quarantine quarters for tourists are already being sought in Salzburg.
In Tyrol, more than 100 ski instructors are infected due to several clusters. In Salzburg, too, the corona numbers are increasing with winter tourism. In the Pongau, the 7-day incidence is now well over 1,000. The state of Salzburg is looking for new quarantine quarters for vacationers, reports “ORF Salzburg”.
Some hotels already closed
Individual hotels are already closing in certain tourist locations, and ski schools shortened their program as many employees test positive for the corona virus.
If a vacationer tests positive, the district administration will be informed immediately. After that there are three options. Either the vacationers stay in quarantine in the hotel. You have to pay for this stay yourself, unless you have travel insurance. If the infected people do not want to spend the quarantine in the hotel, they can drive home without stopping or they can come to the quarantine quarters in Tamsweg (Lungau) with a total of 76 beds. This is operated by the Red Cross. 16 beds are currently occupied. The federal government pays for the costs.
Although there is still enough space in the Tamsweg quarantine area, ÖVP health officer Christian Stöckl will set up another one due to the increasing number of infections. The rehabilitation center in Goldegg (Pongau) is also being discussed.
