On Sunday, February 6, Jan Werich celebrated his 117th birthday. Come celebrate with us! We will inform you about the detailed program soon, but it is certain – the whole villa will come to life!
We would like to know if there is anyone who has not seen the documentary Once a person is? It is high time to catch up, because in January we will meet with the Werich family with the film’s director Miloslav Šmídmajer and Martin Sluneček.
How else to start a new year than with humor, asks the pair of stand-up comedians Čermák and Staněk? They will come with the new Boomer Hooligans Tour in January and February!
Historia magistra vitae, said Cicero and we can no longer agree. That is why we will go back in time. With the witnesses of the TisíciHran ensemble, we will recall a time that is distant and unimaginable for some, a reality experienced for some. In the performance Violets and Mejdlíček, we go back to the 1950s and talk about what it was like growing up under a red star. With Tanks at the swimming pool again about growing up in the 60’s, emigration, revolt and the desire for change.
We will stay on the stage for a while. We have the honor to invite you to the first performance of Alma Rosé played for the public. The story of the excellent violinist Alma Rosé, who eventually became the conductor of the women’s camp orchestra in Auschwitz at the largest concert in Europe. Sarah Haváčová plays the main role in the new game JONATHAN LIVINGSTON.
We will meet Ljuba Krbová again in the popular chamber performance of Margarita. How to fight against adversity? Best of all, humor doesn’t mind being rough at times. Part of the proceeds from the purchased tickets go to support the Bellis Young & Cancer Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer.
Together with the ProART association, we will explore the fates of the artists Holan, Haas, Blatný and the pair Chopin and Sand. In January you can find yourself in the thoughts and verses of Ivan Blatný. Two days later in the love prelude of Chopin and Sand accompanied by a live piano. In February, Holan’s poems materialize with words, movement, music, singing and images. Finally, we make a stop at director and actor Hugo Haas in an interview with his brother.
And what is Mr. Werich telling us this time? “He who knows how to laugh at himself has the right to reconcile to everyone else who finds it laughable.”
We wish you laughing for the whole new year!
