According to the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the value on Wednesday (January 5th, 2022) was 336.3. The day before it was 286.8. On Sunday and Monday there were values around 265. The number indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the last seven days. However, the data are still subject to change.
Again more reports of current numbers
The RKI also pointed out on Wednesday that there was less testing and reporting activity to be expected for the holidays. The data thus give “only an incomplete picture of the epidemiological situation”. The Berlin Senate also points this out in its management report. However, significantly more districts transmitted the latest figures on Tuesday and Wednesday than on the New Year’s weekend and at Christmas.
Over 4000 new infections reported
According to the RKI, 4226 new infections were registered in Berlin between Tuesday and Wednesday. The total number of all detected cases since the beginning of the pandemic rose to just under 339,207. There were five new cases related to Covid-19. According to the RKI, 4025 people in Berlin have died in connection with a corona infection since the beginning of the pandemic.
