EQUAL RULES FOR ALL
OPEN LETTER | 05/01/2022 | 07:47
by Mariagrazia Nicoletti
So much is being discussed in these days of article 3, of cycling rules, of rules of life. But to be beautiful, a game must have clear, transparent and equal rules for everyone. Confusion is everyone’s enemy.
I do not enter into the merits of the cycling rules for declared incompetence. However, I think that if Italy, as demonstrated with resounding medals, is the undisputed and UCI-recognized protagonist of the youth world of two wheels, it should join forces and claim a worldwide regulation close to its locations, having the sure objective of protect young people. The numbers give them and exceed the exceptions.
Obviously it is not correct to circumvent the rules of the national cycling game by joining another federation, if one also claims to play at home. Dialogue is the way to seek solutions to specific problems, especially when they concern young people.
Then there is life. Here the rules stabilize the states with the laws. These laws apply to everyone. Sometimes they are also clear and transparent. And the laws must be applied correctly.
Sports Champions from all over the world have always tried to protect their earnings in the limited period of their competitive career in which they are able to accumulate them. If they do it respecting laws that apply to everyone, to recover the same rights we just have to pedal or play tennis, training a lot.
In Europe there is a wide range of small states for them that survive in the global era by applying specific government policies. Finally an intelligent policy, governed by article 69 of Law 223/2020 on “Atypical residence”, it is also the new and honest choice of an ancient Republic, very Italian, which seeks with its mild climate, the virtues of the Apennines and the sea at 20 kilometers, to relaunch its delicate economy. The Secretary of State for Sport of the Titan Teodoro Lonfernini also reiterated this.
The law of San Marino will not change the world, “residence” is granted to a maximum of 100 people in one year. Monaco and Andorra, which have long built their image on sports stars, are not taking any chances.
