Prague – Today, the last farewell to Luboš Andršt is being made in the Prague Church of the Sacred Heart of the Lord on Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. The renowned guitarist and composer died on December 20 at the age of 73. Andršt played with Michal Prokop in the band Framus Five, he worked in the jazz band Jiří Stivín & co. He played twice with the legendary American blues guitarist BB King.
The name Andršt, who was born on July 26, 1948 in Prague, is inextricably linked with Czech blues. The musician, in whose work it is possible to find the influences of ethnic, classical or rock music, stood at the birth of the successful Blues Alive festival in Šumperk in 1996. In addition to Prokop and Stivín, Andršt has also collaborated with Emil Viklický, Marián Varga, Peter Lipa and Martin Kratochvíl in his Jazz Q group over the years.
For example, Andršt played on Prokop’s album Město ER, with Jazz Q he recorded the album Observatory. At the beginning of 1973 he founded his own blues rock group Energit, later he performed under the name Luboš Andršt Blues Band or Luboš Andršt Group. His albums include Capricornus and Imprints.
In the early 1990s, Andršt led the accompanying group of Marta Kubišová. Andršt’s memorial book Still Playing I Stand Up was published during the year, on which he worked with music publicist and playwright Alive Ondřej Bezr
