the anti-noise radar should be put into service at the beginning of February
It is a device that may make some two-wheeler drivers tick. But at the same time, it should relieve the inhabitants of the Roseraie district in Toulouse. An anti-noise radar will be installed during February rue Louis Plana. This artery, several tens of meters long, is ideal for speed photos and rodeos. With this device, the town hall hopes to limit the noise linked to these behaviors and to the tampered pipes.
First a testing phase, without verbalizations
The city of Toulouse has applied to participate in this initiative led by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. The radar should be installed in early February for a test phase: there is no verbalization at first. The fines for an exhaust that backfires a little too hard will rather be for 2023 or even 2024, according to the Toulouse town hall who still hopes a deterrent effect by then.
After installation, the radar will begin with measurements for reliability tester. It will be a question of whether he matches each noise identified as too loud to the correct vehicle. Then there will be a second phase. ; anti-noise radars are being tested in several towns in France: these towns will report their measurements to define a kind of national threshold, for example a number of decibels above the conductors will be fined. It is only after these two phases that the fines will begin to fall.
A connected radar
The radar will be installed on a lamppost several meters high and equipped with a 360-degree camera and several microphones. The whole will be connected to the video surveillance system municipal to be able to identify the owners of vehicles, two wheels or cars, responsible for nuisances. Offenses must be punishable by 135 euros in fines, but without point deduction.
