Siemens Gamesa ends 2021 with large onshore wind orders in Sweden and India
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) announced major turbine orders in Sweden and India when 2021 came to an end.
It also announced a package of turbine service agreements with Iberdrola covering wind farms in Spain and Portugal.
The turbine manufacturer will supply 42 of its SG 6.6-170 turbines 260MW Stor-Skälsjön Stor-Skälsjön (260MW) On landSundsvall and Timrå, Västernorrland County, Sweden, Europe Click to see all details project in Central Sweden. The turbines will have hub heights of between 115 and 123 meters.
Eolus (51% of the shares) and Hydro Reins (49%) project will be installed in 2023.
Siemens Gamesa will service the turbines for 25 years.
Repeat Indian orders
It will also supply 84 of its SG 3.6-145 turbines for a 302MW project in Karnataka, southwest India.
The order from the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) -supported Ayana Renewable Power is Siemens Gamesa’s third major order for its 3.X platform in India.
Since the launch of the turbine platform in 2020, the manufacturer has collected 925 MW orders in India.
It will produce the SG 3.6-145 turbines for Ayana in India and will commission the wind farm in 2023.
Maintenance deals
Siemens Gamesa also announced service offers for almost 2GW of its turbines at Iberdrola wind farms in Spain and Portugal.
It will maintain 69 wind farms covering 1,963 of its turbines, with an output of between 660kW and 3,465MW.
The agreements include new and renewed contracts and will need approximately 160 employees to carry out necessary maintenance work.
Iberdrola expects that this maintenance service will increase the efficiency of the 1,963 turbines and extend their service life.
When these deals are completed, Siemens Gamesa will have 14GW under maintenance worldwide.
