Shot from car with blank pistols
timeline
On Monday, the police in the city of Salzburg caught three young people who are said to have died while driving with blank pistols from their car. 500 rounds of ammunition were seized from the trio.
The young people were noticed because they shot out of the moving car in the area of the airport underpass in Salzburg-Maxglan. A police patrol picked up the chase and stopped them in the old city. During the search of the vehicle, the officers found the three boys, who were 16 and 17 years old, three alarm pistols and around 500 rounds of ammunition.
Provisional gun ban pronounced
The three young city Salzburg residents are therefore now reported to the Salzburg public prosecutor. In addition, a provisional gun ban was imposed on the young people. The police are also investigating how they got the alarm guns in the first place.
Blank pistols usually look like sharp weapons, but do not fire projectiles. Even so, the gas pressure can injure other people when fired at close range. In Austria only adults over the age of 18 are allowed to carry alarm weapons and do not need a gun license. However, these pistols must not be misused.
