COVID-19: Portugal has already administered more than three million booster doses of the vaccine – News
In a statement, the DGS says that, of the more than 2.4 million doses of flu vaccine administered in Portugal, about 477,000 were in pharmacies.
The note adds that more than one million people received both covid-19 and flu booster vaccines simultaneously.
According to data recorded up to the end of Monday, January 3, of the more than three million booster doses against covid-19 administered, nearly two million were in people over 65 years of age.
So far, 88% of people over 70 years old have received the booster dose, referred to DGS.
Between 60 and 69 years old, 66% of people are already vaccinated, according to the last vaccination bulletin (data for the population residing in Mainland Portugal, estimated by INE for 2020).
According to data from the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS), more than 100,000 children between the ages of 5 and 11 are scheduled to receive a vaccine against covid-19 between Thursday and Sunday.
According to data from Monday from the DGS, 95,752 children in this age group are already vaccinated with the first dose of the pediatric version of Pfizer.
Between February 5th and March 13th they will be administered as second pediatric doses, at which time the vaccination schedule for this age group will be completed, estimates the Government.
Covid-19 has caused 5,441,446 deaths worldwide since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest report by Agence France-Presse.
In Portugal, since March 2020, 19,000 people have died and 1,434,570 cases of infection have been recorded, according to data from the General Directorate of Health.
