Call for funds Pnrr | Verona excluded
One in ten made it. On 30 December last, the beneficiary Municipalities of the grant were identified for “investments in urban regeneration projects, aimed at reducing phenomena of marginalization and social degradation, as well as improving the quality of urban decor and the social and environmental fabric”. The resources had flowed into the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr) and for the years 2021-2026 they amounted to 3.4 billion euros. Ten municipalities in the province of Verona that had presented projects that could be financed with this call. Only San Bonifacio you will see the resources. The other nine Scaliger territories, including the capital, remain empty-handed.
With San Bonifacio, the resources provided another 482 Italian municipalities. The projects financed are 1,784, selected from the 2,325 projects admitted to the call. About ninety, however, the projects that were not admitted.
The Municipality of Verona had participated with three works, hoping to obtain the European resources of the PNRR: the redevelopment of the Arsenale, the Skate Park in Viale Galliano and the renovation of the Fedeli schools. The latter was among the non-admitted projects, while Arsenale and Skate Park are in a position in the ranking that excludes them from funding. In fact, 4.3 billion euros would be needed to finance all the projects admitted to the tender, about 900 million more than what is made available. For this reason, the president of the association of municipalities Antonio Decaro also asked the government to find the necessary resources to finance all the projects admitted. «All admitted projects must be financed – said Decaro – It is necessary that the resources currently will be integrated, also to overcome some critical issues caused by the application of the parameters used to define the ranking. It seems paradoxical on the part of Italy that it may already be a resource for investments and on the other hand there are ready-made projects that are not financed, in particular excluding some important Northern Municipalities ».
