Year of bridges. The Prague City Hall will start a number of buildings before the elections
“In a year or so, we will have two brand new bridges under construction. Holtva footbridge and Dvorecký bridge. This year we planned, announced public contracts. At the footbridge between Holešovice and Karlín, we will dig into the ground at the beginning of this year. We are competing for contractors at the Dvorecký Bridge and construction work will begin in the second half of the year, “said Prague Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr on his Facebook profile.
The second part of the reconstruction of the Barrandov Bridge should also begin in the spring. So far, construction companies have been working at the bottom of the structure, so traffic on the busy junction has not been limited. In the spring, the situation is set to change, although according to Scheinherr, the city expects to be the most passable in three of the four lanes in both directions throughout the repairs. “The repairs include the replacement of the bridge superstructure on all the bridges of which it consists, including the access ramps from Strakonická and Barrandovská streets. They will last until 2026, “added the deputy mayor.

The Hlávek Bridge, which crosses over 80,000 cars a day, will also be modernized. “By paving, we slow down decay and simplify future reconstruction. We do not close our eyes to the condition of the bridges. They are the iconic landmarks of the city. We appreciate their urban and architectural contribution to Prague. We take due care of them based on accurate data from thorough diagnostics, ”concluded Scheinherr.
This autumn, the people of Prague will choose a new representative for the councils of 57 city districts and for the Prague-wide council. The current mayor, Zdeněk Hřib, plans to defend his position.
