The first manifestations of Omicron appear up to 3 days after infection – Bulgaria
The first manifestations of the new variant of the coronavirus – Omicron, appeared only 3 days after infection – this was shown to BTV by the director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Prof. Iva Hristova. For comparison, the delta took 4, and the initial version – 5 days, she said.
According to her, there is a 5 times higher chance that people who have fallen ill will be re-infected with Omicron and you should consider vaccination.
She reminded that the average of the new version is the runny nose, sore throat, but their prolonged retention and fever, as well as follow-up related to the lower respiratory tract, accompanied by cough are indicators of the occurrence.
Matek Lachezar Tomati points out that Omicron is between 20 and 30% lighter for the completely ill and unvaccinated, 50% for the sick and 70% for the vaccinated.
Prof. Iva Hristova added that the case of COVID-19 will continue to rise until the end of January, but the potential new wave can be controlled with vaccination and booster. “All measures are potentially possible, but they must be based on the situation in our country. The increase in morbidity in our country on a 14-day basis is from 4 days. We will see how fast the cases grow, “she added.
Today queues formed in front of vaccination points in Plovdiv, Varna and Sofia.
