Moscow expects government approval of the five nuclear powers – Russia, the United States, Britain, France and China – to help reduce international tensions. So the publication of the statement was explained by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, informs press service of the department.
The diplomat noted that the statement was prepared at the initiative of Moscow. “Its promulgation was supposed to be tied to the beginning of the X Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
