Prague extends public transport intervals due to weaker demand, reduces traffic by 9%
Today, some names of stops in the Prague Integrated network are changing, and express buses will start running from Průhonice.
As of today, Prague is limiting the scope of public transport. According to the Prague transport organizer Ropid, this is a traditional reduction, which is related to the traditionally lower demand for travel at the beginning of the year.
“However, due to the epidemic situation, this year it is not possible to operate entirely on current demand, as it is still up to 30% lower than usual. Therefore, from January 3 to 30, 2022, the PID city lines in Prague will be in operation according to half-empty timetables, which reduce the offer of connections during the day by only about 9% on average, “ Ropid said on social networks.
The new restriction will apply from January 3 to January 31. It is set up to reduce a possible driver shortage due to possible quarantine-related quarantines. In practice, the intervals in the metro are extended by 10 to 30 seconds in the morning and afternoon peaks of the working day (at least on line C). On tram lines, intervals of 1-2 minutes longer apply only in the afternoon rush hour. On city bus lines, the intervals between connections on the backbone lines are extended from 6 to 7.5 minutes in the morning. In the afternoon, the interval is extended from 7.5 to 10 minutes, on additional lines in the morning from 12 to 15 minutes and in the afternoon from 15 to 20 minutes.
Line from Průhonice on the D1
In Prague, some names of stops are also changing: Cibulka will be renamed Nádraží Cibulka. Netušilská will be renamed Blatov North.
There is also a change on the lines of the Prague Integrated Transport in the Central Bohemian Region. Line 385 will be newly express and will run on the D1 between Opatov and Průhonice. Instead, the new line 357 will travel via Šeberov and Rozkoš. Line 122 to Újezd u Průhonice will also be significantly strengthened and line 363 will weaken slightly due to the new express connection line 385. It has been valid in Kladno since Saturday (new line 565 to Slaný instead of line 609). it runs only through the territory of Kladno in the new route Lines 612 and 620 return to the center of Kladno – again they go through the Gymnasium and Náměstí Svobody.
