Mountain Attack is postponed – the organizer is raging
In 1999 the event Mountain Attack celebrated its premiere and defied all adversities such as snow chaos, lack of snow or storms.
Mountain Attack postponed to March 11th
Before the turn of the year, the organizers were optimistic and hoped that the event would take place.
But the 23rd edition planned for January 14th has to be canceled again. The next attempt will be made on March 11th. As a reason, the organizers cite the 2 rule in the outdoor area without assigned seats. Because according to the regulations of the federal government a maximum of 25 people are allowed to participate in an event – with assigned seats up to 2,000 people are allowed.
Organizer criticized the government
While the head of organization Roland Kurz showed understanding last year, the man from Tennengau was shooting sharply against the federal government’s regulations on Monday in an interview with SALZBURG24: appear and, unfortunately, drive people onto the streets, “you Kurz.
“Where are representatives of the sport?”
The organizer from Hallein regrets that no differences are made between a spectator event (many onlookers, few participants) and a participant event (many active people, few fans).
According to Kurz, the consequential damage will be considerable. “Who is still ready to get involved? Active people, clubs, organizers and volunteers will soon give up for good. In any case, there are already many who have stopped,” explained Kurz, who has been teaching sports at the University of Salzburg for 30 years Can show event experience.
The head of the organization adds: “Where are the representatives of the sports ministry, the federal sports organization, the umbrella organizations or the professional associations?”
Brief proportionality
In short, it is clear that you cannot regulate every event individually. However, he calls for the basic guidelines to be revised urgently and for events to be approved fairly.
“Gatherings such as those at New Year’s concerts, New Year’s Eve fireworks in the city centers, Christmas markets and ongoing skiing in the mountains have been approved, but 1,000 ski mountaineers are not allowed to climb over 60 kilometers of slopes in the great outdoors after 4 p.m.”, the annoyed Organizer.
Werfenwenger (Pongau) Jakob Herrmann won the last international event in Pinzgau with a course record.
The next attempt to organize the 23rd edition of Mountain Attack will follow on March 11th.
