Government meets again with experts at Infarmed this Wednesday
The prime minister has scheduled for Wednesday, at Infarmed, in Lisbon, another meeting with experts on the evolution of the covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, official government source told Lusa this Monday.
At the meeting, which is scheduled for 10:00 am, only the President of the Assembly, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of the Republic, Ferro Rodrigues, and the leader of the Executive, António Costa, in addition to the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, and the experts.
The rest, ie party representatives, members of the Council of State or social partners, will participate in the meeting via videoconference.
In political terms, the results of the meeting will be materialized at the next Council of Ministers, on Thursday, at a time when both the incidence and the transmission rate (Rt) are increasing in Portugal.
On Wednesday, according to data from the General Directorate of Health, a treatment for infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus rose to 1,805.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Portugal and the transmission rate (Rt) also registered an increase to 1.43.
Also according to the same data, a national incidence rate rose from 1,182.7 cases of infection per 100 million inhabitants for 14 days on Friday, to the current 1,805.2.
Only continental Portugal, this indicator also registered an increase, from 1,188.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants to 1,817.3.
The Rt – which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection of each person carrying the virus – also registered a new growth, rising from 1.35 nationally and from 1.36 in mainland Portugal to 1.43.
The Rt data and the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within 14 days – indicators that make up the risk matrix for monitoring the pandemic – are produced by health authorities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday .
