Garbage collectors’ strike in Toulouse: the rottenness of the conflict
Since December 21, negotiations between the Metropolis and the unions have stalled. The inter-union proposed a meeting to find an agreement. It will take place on Wednesday.
On Twitter, Toulouse users are posting pictures of their street, where trash cans are overflowing, helpless. Some have tried to launch the #saccagetoulouse movement, a nod to # #accageparis, the management of dysfunctions in the capital.
The waste collection strike, which began on December 16, has ended a collection undermined by the movement of the agents of November 22, an application to the letter of the future regulation. To preserve their achievements, a majority of the garbage collectors of the Raisin, Monlong and Union depots are strikers according to the inter-union (FO, CGT, FA-FPT, FSU, Solidaires Sud and Unsa). Some of the agents from the Colomiers depot must also join the movement. “The management tampered with the prior declarations of strike”, criticizes Benoit Fontanilles.
The grumbling is accentuated over the days. According to our information, garbage collectors from the Monlong depot tried to disrupt the Monday by throwing barriers under the teams of the operational teams. An operation that is not anecdotal. The law on the transformation of the public service, to which garbage collectors must now comply, came into force on Monday morning.
“Toulouse Métropole is silent”
Since December 21, the representatives of the unions and the Metropolis have not met. The negotiations are therefore at a standstill. The inter-union is said to be “waiting”. “We have taken a lot of steps forward. The precondition for the discussion was the end of the “finished party”, we have registered it. We then proposed a reduction in daily working time, which we ended up revising downwards. It is not a step but 10 that we have facts ”, storms Nicolas Refutin, secretary general of FO Toulouse Métropole (majority).
The representatives of the unions, weary of the silence of the Metropolis, met this Monday morning. They decided to send yet another meeting request to Toulouse Métropole, which approved this invitation. Wednesday at 2 p.m., elected officials and unions will meet around the negotiating table.
The stakes are high. Territorial agents are seething. Failure to agree could cause the pot to explode. On the war footing, garbage collectors ensure they are ready to hold pickets in the city’s depots, completely paralyzing the collection of waste. She finally answered us. Depending on what will be said or acted upon, nothing is excluded, ”indicates the intersyndicale. The end of year celebrations were spent under the rubbish in Toulouse. The sales are pointing their noses. The situation can calm down by then.
