He is one of the hottest stocks in world football: Ex-Salzburg attacker Erling Haaland is on the wish lists of numerous top clubs. Now the president of the sporty and badly battered FC Barcelona has not ruled out a signing of the Norwegian from Borussia Dortmund.
“Anything is possible,” said club boss Joan Laporta in Barcelona on Monday. Speaking to journalists at the presentation of Manchester City striker Ferrán Torres, he said: “All the great players are considering the possibility of moving to Barça.”
Have there been meetings with Haaland consultants?
The club boss had already met with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola in mid-December according to Spanish media reports to negotiate a change of the former Salzburg striker. Meanwhile, Laporta did not rule out the signing of Álvaro Morata on Monday. The 29-year-old international striker may change in winter because he is not at all comfortable with Juventus Turin, the Spanish media had previously reported.
Barcelona badly hit
Despite horrific debts of 1.35 billion euros, Barça had already made the Torres deal perfect a few days ago. For the international striker (21), the Catalans will, according to media reports, transfer 55 million euros – plus performance-related bonuses of up to ten million euros – to Manchester City.
