A turning point has come in Slovakia, PET bottles are starting to be backed up, said Minister of the Environment Ján Budaj at the briefing. “The backup system is an offensive against dirt and waste in Slovakia“Said the minister.
We will update the news.
- The deposit applies to almost all beverages that are packed in plastic bottles or cans with a volume of 0.1 to 3 liters.
- Exceptions are packaging for milk and milk drinks, syrups and alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of more than 15%. These containers must continue to be separated into yellow plastic containers.
- Bottles and cans must be handed in unabated and with a legible bar code. This is the only way he can back them up or verify the handheld scanner and pay the customers back to the backup.
- Only those packages that are marked with a large “Z” symbol inserted in the recycling arrows are backed up. It will be placed near the barcode and will be supplemented by the text “BACKED UP”.
- If we do not back up plastic bottles and cans, the 15 cents deposit will be forfeited to us and we will not take advantage of the opportunity to collect waste efficiently and make the environment easier.
- The amount of the deposit is the same for all types of disposable beverage packaging – 15 cents. Although we can back up bottles and cans in any store in Slovakia, we can only spend the returned back in the store where we handed over the given packaging.
