Salesians from Portugal and Cape Verde launch ‘ANIMA’ app
Designed for teenagers and young people, a Salesian computer application helps to respond to their spiritual needs and the growth of their faith.
Patrícia Madeira, from the Salesians communication office, says it is “important that there are moments that make us stop and think about the relationship with God. He just asks us for an opportunity to be part of our lives. If we let that happen, He will do it rest. ‘ANIMA’ is, therefore, a proposal to approach Jesus Christ”.
This digital tool provides a wide range of resources on a daily basis, such as: the daily liturgy and a brief commentary, the breviary, meditation texts, vocational topics, answers to doubts, information, sharing and news about WYD 2023, homilies, phrases of holiness, Christian commentaries on current affairs, songs with messages, radio stations, a vast prayer book. And also the connection to events broadcast live, such as moments of adoration and prayer, mass, rosary, debates, disconnections, concerts, among many other proposals.
‘ANIMA’ promises to be a good company in the daily lives of the youngest, as “all content can be read, listened to and meditated upon whenever we want: on the way to school, college, work or on the way back the House “.
This executive responsible that “praying, meditating, singing is now just a click away. And with this App it is possible to make every moment a privileged meeting place with God”.
The structure of this application was developed by the Salesians in Croatia.
The contents “are the result of the contribution of more than 30 collaborators, including many Salesians, but also some bishops, lay people and members of other religious congregations who daily send us comments, opinions, visions, experiences of faith, always in the spirit of mission”.
What is the origin of the name of this application?
‘ANIMA’ arises from the priestly motto of St John Bosco, founder of the Salesian Congregation, “Give me souls and take the rest” (“Da mihi animas, coetera tolle” Gen 14, 21), as well as from the link to the verb animate, give life, give encouragement.
This tool thus intends to animate the spiritual life of Christians and serve as a support for evangelization.
ONE app was dedicated to Our Lady, “whom Benedict XVI invited to invoke as ‘Star of the New Evangelization’ ”
In this regard, the Salesians recall some of the words of Benedict XVI in 2008, “may the Mother help us to find pastoral strategies and opportunities to ensure that Christ is found by young people, who by their very nature have a new impulse”.
‘ANIMA’ is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store.
