In Syria, Russian planes bombed the province of Idlib, which holds the opposition. This was announced on Sunday, January 2, by Reuters, citing witnesses.
According to Reuters, high-altitude warplanes dropped bombs on several cities and a water tower that supplies water to the city of Idlib, which is now home to about a million people. At the moment, neither the representatives of Russia, nor the Syrian army write any messages about the airstrike. There is no information about the victims yet.
A spokesman for the Idlib City Water Service said it was interrupted by the bombing. According to eyewitnesses, livestock and poultry farms outside the Bab al-Hawa border crossing on the border with Turkey were also affected. “The Russians are choosing infrastructure and economic facilities as their targets. This aggravates the suffering of the people,” said administration spokesman Abu Hazem Idlibi.
Over 10 years of war
According to the UN, as a result of the civil war in Syria, which began in 2011, at least 350 thousand people died. Despite active participation in this war, Russia avoids taking the Syrian wars. In 2020, this status in Russia was only twice for the Syrians, about 400 more Syrian citizens had temporary military asylum. At the same time, Germany receives over 800,000 Syrian fuses.
