Oust. Organ: triumph for Vera Zveguintseva and Marc Giacone in Monaco
At the end of August 2021, Marc Giacone was in Oust during the installation of the new organ. At the origin of this event, the Monegasque was delighted that Vera Zveguintseva will then give a recital in the cathedral of Monaco on November 26, 2021.
The setting is exceptional and the program also because it is entirely dedicated to the works of Marc Giacone, organist-titular of the Chapelle des Carmes in Monaco.
Great virtuosity
Recognized for his unique style of writing based on African, Indian, medieval or “jazzies” folk elements, he is also inspired by traditional percussion.
The use of a wide harmonic palette creates new sounds, generating another musical dimension. Vera adds: “Her pieces available a symphonic instrument and great virtuosity.”
80 games, four keyboards
The organ of the cathedral of Monaco was built in 2011 in Belgium by the Manufacture d’orgues Thomas. With its 80 stops and four keyboards, the instrument “flies” like a large airplane. It is in perfect condition, the Principality of Monaco attaching great importance to the maintenance of its organs.
The program aimed at experienced music lovers offered a wide variety of pieces, notably pieces inspired by African music, in particular “Le Piroguier du Zambèze”. There was also “The Christmas Bells”, heard for the first time on the small instrument.
We leave the conclusion to Vera Zveguintseva, Couserannaise by adoption, professor at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and director of the Saint-Girons branch: “I was impressed by this organ, considered to be the most imposing of the Côte d ‘ Azur. Once again I would like to thank Marc Giacone for allowing me to perform there. “
This concert is one of the stages leading to the recording of the complete works for organ by Marc Giacone in 2022.
An Ariège meeting
Ariège sees two artists flourish on its land, whose kindness and modesty are matched only by their talent. Their bond started in Seix when Vera Zveguintseva called a concert where she played a few pieces by Marc Giacone. Without warning her, he surprised her by coming from Monaco to listen to her in the Couserans.
