Course (F) – Marta Cavalli dreams of playing in a women’s Milan-San Remo

Sugar Mizzy January 2, 2022

In addition to the Tour of Flanders organized since 2004, the women’s calendar has seen the addition of important cycling courses in recent years, such as Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Paris-Roubaix which are part of the Monuments of the male program. However, the two Italian classics are still missing, to know Milan-San Remo and the Tower of Lombardy. Disappeared from the calendar in 2005, La Primavera held some riders including the former Italian champion Marta Cavalli (Futuroscope FDJ Nouvelle-Aquitaine). The latter dream of running and winning a Milan-San Remo feminine.

“I would like to fight with the other athletes on the Poggio”

“It could be a fantastic course. I love the city of Sanremo, I spent a lot of time there training. The Poggio is one of my favorite climbs and I did it 15 times in training last year. I know him well. I would like to fight with the other athletes of the Women’s World Tour on the Poggio. And it would be a dream to win Milan-San Remo“, declares Marta Cavalli in comments reported by Cycling news.

While waiting to be able to participate in Milan-San Remo, the resident of the team Futuroscope FDJ New-Aquitaine think of the 2022 season in which the 23-year-old Italian hopes to shine: “I will choose two major courses for the spring classics: the Strade Bianche and the Tour of Flanders. I like the fact that these are really tough classes. It will be a demanding season because there are so many new races, including the Tour de France. The team is focused on being at their best on the Tour, I’m an Italian athlete and I have the Giro in my heart. I think it is possible to do both.“
