Cirk Vost makes his circus at the Grainerie
The Cirk Vost company is based in Toulouse at La Grainerie. The acrobats and trapeze artists of this Gardoise troupe present a surprising spectacle until January 9, 2022.
They run, dance, mingle with the public, throw themselves from the top of the tent 15 meters high. We no longer know where to turn. Even the guitarist of the rock band installed on stage ended up flying away.
But with Cirk Vost no Air Guitar. We don’t pretend. Voltigeurs and trapeze artists throw themselves into the void, catch each other, embrace each other, push and catch up, sometimes fall.
“Hurt me tender” is a show which resembles life with its joys and its difficulties. The idea is to evoke “the human in its raw side as well in the tenderness as in the violence” explains Florent Bergal the director.
The decor is sober as are the costumes; the artists are dressed in street clothes. One way to get closer to the public. It is a collective creation. La troop from Alès in the Gard, wanted more privacy with the spectators.
“Instead of being in the air throughout the show”, says Océane Peillet, one of the trapeze artists. “We also do aerobatics on the ground. So we are closer to the public. We are human and not just acrobats, we feel a connection with the public”.
And it works. “It’s surprising”, said a captivated spectator. “It’s not the kind of circus we’re used to. The performances, the mastery of aerobatics, it’s exceptional to reach this level of perfection. We feel fluidity in the gestures, in the meeting, in the way of moving these bodies, of sharing. It’s a beautiful acrobatic poetry “.
The Cirk Vost show “Hurt me tenderly” is played under a big top at the Grainerie in Toulouse until January 9.
