Actress Sofia Michopoulou has died HELLAS
The actress Sofia Michopoulou, one of the regular collaborators of Theodoros Terzopoulos and the Attis Theater, passed away.
Sofia Michopoulou worked at the Art Theater throughout the 60’s with director Karolos Koun and with the Attis Theater and Theodoros Terzopoulos from ’86. He worked for a long time with seminars and performances at the Vienna Drama Center. He had collaborated with the National Theater and other theatrical organizations in Greece. Participated with Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ono, with P. Brook in Paris.
He has given seminars at the Summer Academy and Drama School of the National Theater, at the Center for Ancient Drama and elsewhere, in Madrid, Merida, in the Canary Islands (Tenerrife University), at the Drama School in Buenos Aires, in Belgium, Ghent and Drama. Antwerp School on: Training and preparation of the actor – Law of opposites – Special exercises for the conquest through all parts of the body and voice, energy sources, harmony between speech and physicality. Up to the Dionysian and Apollonian dimension, which finds its supreme form in the great school for the actor and teacher, the Ancient Greek Tragedy.

Sofia Michopoulou was born in Athens. He studied at the Drama School of Pelos Katselis and participated in seminars with Tatsumi Hijikata in Tokyo and with Peter Brook in Paris. From 1958 to 1968 he participated in many performances of the Art Theater on the stage of Karolos Koun. He also collaborated with the Vienna Drama Center, the National Theater, the State Theater of Northern Greece and other theatrical organizations. In 1985 she began her collaboration with the Attis Theater and Theodoros Terzopoulos, playing important roles:
the Agave in the Bacchae of Euripides, the Medea in the Medea Material of H. Miller, the Darius in the Persians of Aeschylus, the Top in Prometheus Bound of Aeschylus, the Hydra in the Hercules of H. Miller, the Beck, the Beck Europe in Aeschylus’ Descendants, S. Beckett’s Woman in Lullaby, A. Strindberg’s Mademoiselle Julie and others.
