He was born at 01:56 a.m., making him the first baby to see the light of day at Zurich City Hospital in 2022.
Liun is a Romansh name. It means something like “lion”.

“On the night of January 1, 2022, Liun Nicca was born to the sound of fireworks and is well,” writes the Triemli City Hospital in a press release. Liun was born at 1:56 a.m., almost two hours after midnight, and is the first baby of the year 2022 at the Zurich City Hospital.
The name Liun is Rhaeto-Romanic and means something like “lion”, the message goes on to say. But the little one does not live up to its name. According to mom Anina Nicca, Liun was very calm even during pregnancy. Even hours after the birth, he dozes peacefully and does not allow anyone to bother him.
Liun is the first child of Mama Anina and Papa Matthias. “To experience the birth at the turn of the year was something special,” Mama Anina is quoted in the press release. “It seemed so quickly that the world with all the fireworks would welcome little Liun.”
New birth record in the women’s clinic
In 2021, 2,391 children were born in the gynecological clinic of Zurich Triemli City Hospital – that is a new birth record. The gynecological clinic of the Zurich City Hospital offers pregnancy care and obstetrics. The team at the women’s clinic (consisting of doctors, nurses and midwives) also accompanies the mother and child after the birth, in the puerperium, and provides support when breastfeeding begins.
