Last weekend, four out of seven matches, including the meeting between Toulon and Bordeaux-Bègles, had already been reported because of numerous absences linked to Covid-19
The Top 14 rugby match between Montpellier and Toulon, scheduled for Sunday evening, was postponed “to a later date following a series of positive control tests” for Covid-19, the National Rugby League announced on Saturday (LNR). “Many cases” had been announced Friday by RC Toulon, without specifying the exact number.
Modified schedules
A new health protocol entered into force this week, with two minimum tests per week, for all players, following the cancellation last weekend, the day after Christmas, of the match scheduled between Stade Toulousain and Stade Français . Last weekend, four out of seven matches, including the meeting between Toulon and Bordeaux-Bègles, had already been reported because of numerous absences linked to Covid-19.
This postponement causes three schedule changes for Sunday’s matches: Bordeaux-Bègles – Biarritz will take place at 4 p.m., then Castres – La Rochelle at 6 p.m. and Lyon – Racing 92 at 9:05 p.m., instead of Montpellier (3rd ) – Toulon (11th), on behalf of the 14th day of the Top 14. LNR’s new Covid protocol stipulates that 23 players must be available, including at least fifteen professionals and six from the front line.
