Slovakia is officially starting to back up! How will it all go?
In Slovakia, the backup of plastic bottles and cans starts on Saturday. It will only apply to packages marked “Z – Backup”. They will return uncompressed, undamaged and the bottles with the lid.
The amount of the deposit will be uniform for both the plastic container and the cans, namely 15 eurocents. According to the Administrator of the deposit system, the consumer pays the deposit when buying a drink, gets it back in full when returning the packaging, while he can use the discount on the next purchase or take cash. According to the administrator, the backed-up bottles and cans will be marked with a capital letter “Z” in the arrows. It will be near the barcode along with the text “backed up”.
All disposable plastic and metal beverage containers with a volume of 0.1 to three liters will be backed up. These will be carbonated sweet drinks, non-carbonated sweet drinks, mineral waters, spring waters, infant waters, flavored waters, fruit juices, nectars, fruit drinks, iced teas, sports drinks, energy drinks, beer, cider, perry, radler and fruit wine. The report also points out that milk, syrup and hard alcohol packaging will be an exception.
The report stated that for stores larger than 300 meters, the introduction of backup is mandatory, for smaller stores are voluntary. He explained that the operations will have a choice, what type of backup packaging they will choose and which will pay off. You can choose automated collection via a backup, semi-automated or manual collection, which will be done by the saleswoman at the cash register using a special hand-held scanner.
According to the administrator, the goal of the backup system is to select a new 90 percent of beverage packaging so that it can be recycled, used in the production of packaging and not end up in peace in nature or in an incinerator.
