School leaders Amsterdam and Rotterdam: open schools after holidays
AMSTERD (ANP) – Dozens of AM secondary schools in Amsterdam and Rotterdam want to reopen after the Christmas holidays. They have a call to the cabinet on Saturday.

The schools say they have been “closed for a while, slightly open, fully open, open with conditions and now closed again” in the past year. According to the school leaders, all these changes are “detrimental to the development of young people and education. Students benefit from structure: clarity, clarity and a lot of social context.”
The call was signed from Amsterdam by, among others, the St. Ignatiusgymnasium, the Barlaeus and Vossius gymnasium and the Amsterdam MAVO. In Rotterdam, the Marnix Gymnasium, the Melanchthon School Community and the Avicenna College are behind the call, among others. The letter was also signed by the Municipal Gymnasium Schiedam, the Montesori College in Nijmegen and the School Leaders Register VO, an organization for administrators of secondary schools.
All schools in the Netherlands closed the week before the Christmas holidays. That number of infections as much as possible, the rapid spread of the new omikron variant. The holiday lasts until January 9. The cabinet decision on Monday that the schools can open again on January 10, or that they will remain closed for longer.
