Russia India to double the number of space rocket launches
It became known about the intention of Russia to carry out 50-75 launches of space carrier rockets per year from the beginning of the stage of deployment of the orbital satellite constellation “Sphere”. About it told Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of the state corporation Roscosmos, congratulating the Russian cosmonauts on board the International Space Station.
“We must be prepared to double or triple these launches when we start deploying a multi-satellite orbital constellation.”– said Mr. Rogozin in his address. Summing up the results of 2021, the head of Roscosmos recalled 25 launches of carrier rockets, which corresponds to the level of 2019. There were also 76 accident-free launches and the launch of 340 spacecraft into outer space.
A few days ago, Roskosmos spoke about the first tests of the forced oxygen-hydrogen engine, which was announced in the new upper stages of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle. According to available data, a heavy-class oxygen-hydrogen upper stage will increase the rocket’s carrying capacity. Instead of 7.5 tons of thrust, the new engine will provide 9 tons of thrust.
In the course of recent firing tests, the upgraded engine and its systems are working in strict accordance with the given plan. To date, three test launches of the Angara-A5 carrier rocket have already been carried out. In two cases, the Briz-M upper stage was used, while the third flight was carried out using a DM type block.
