Prince Albert II of Monaco’s New Year’s speech 2022
Prince Albert II of Monaco sent his wishes for 2022 to the Monegasques, during a televised intervention on December 31, 2021. The sovereign prince’s speech emphasized the need to remain united and faithful to the values of the Principality, which have always made it successful. Prince Albert hopes that the solidarity and the privileged situation of Monegasques can be put at the service of the weakest and of future generations.

Prince Albert II of Monaco’s speech for the New Year 2022
“It is essential that each and every one of us can achieve a break in order to take the time to face, both individually and collectively, the challenges to come”, begins Prince Albert in his speech. The Sovereign Prince recalls that the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is continuing. “We are reminded of the fragility of the situation every day, with the risk of constantly calling into question the progress achieved during the year 2021.”
Prince Albert II calls for responsibility, insisting on respect for barrier gestures “But also being aware that today our only truly effective weapon remains vaccination.” The prince explains that everyone’s responsibility is engaged, “Not only towards ourselves but above all towards our loved ones, towards the society in which we live”. The Head of State underlines that this responsibility will have consequences on the society that we bequeath to future generations.

“I am convinced that if we continue to show solidarity, the year 2022 will be an additional step towards a pre-pandemic world but more just and more humane.” Albert II then thanked the selfless people who asked “Happiness and comfort to suffering people”. The prince thanked the health personnel and the police who carried out their missions in a particularly difficult context, as well as the employees of the public administration and certain actors of the private sector who fully assumed their role.
Prince Albert is congratulated on the efforts of all citizens who show solidarity with our elders. This solidarity and these efforts towards others are “Also the foundations of hope for the future of the young generations”. Prince Albert called Monaco a “A place of peace and prosperity where solidarity, individual and collective, private and public, is expressed with force because its population is aware of the privileges which are its own”.
In the last part of his speech, Prince Albert dealt with the future of his country. The Monegasque head of state assures us that “The Principality will continue to develop on values which have always been its strength: confidence in its economic and social model, generosity and compassion towards the most fragile and the most deprived, inclusive, just and sustainable society”. Prince Albert has indicated that he is fully committed to upholding his country’s responsibilities and obligations towards its people and future generations.
